WSS Featured at 2013 Sealy/Fox 8 Holiday Concert
The Winston-Salem Symphony will perform at the Sealy/Fox 8 Holiday Pops Concert, playing a variety of holiday favorites including a selection of songs from beloved holiday movies, Sleigh Ride, a carol sing-along and much more!
Kathryn Mueller, soprano
Described as a singer “who thoroughly captures the imagination” by the Albuquerque Journal, soprano Kathryn Mueller has also been praised by San Francisco Classical Voice for her “lovely tone and easy agility.” Her frequent solo concert engagements across the United States include appearances with American Bach Soloists, the Washington Bach Consort, Phoenix Symphony, Miami’s Firebird Orchestra, Atlanta’s New Trinity Baroque, and Chicago’s Ars Antigua.
Daniel Stein, tenor
Tenor Daniel C. Stein, whose voice has been described as “ringing” and “warm and flexible”, began the 2013-14 season performing excerpts from Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings (Britten) in a concert celebrating the centennial of the composers birth. He followed with performances of Messiah (Handel) and excerpts from La Bohème (Puccini) with the Winston-Salem Symphony.
Troy Cook, baritone
American baritone Troy Cook recently debuted with Hamburgische Staatsoper as Marcello in La bohème, where he also performed his first Ford in Falstaff in the spring of 2010, and with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte. The 2013-2014 season also brought performances as Riccardo in Boston Lyric Opera’s I puritani, Marcello in La bohème with Pittsburgh Opera and North Carolina Opera, and the Marquis de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites with Opera Theatre of St. Louis.
