Troy Cook, baritone

American baritone Troy Cook recently debuted the Hamburgische Staatsoper as Marcello in La bohème and the Royal Opera at Covent Garden as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte. He has recently appeared  in performances of  Handel’s Messiah with the Winston-Salem Symphony.

Program Notes

Carl Orff

The original Carmina Burana comprises over two hundred poems in Latin, French, and German, an indication that the manuscript is an anthology representative of artistic activity from various locales. The authors of these poems were a curious assortment of wandering students and disaffected monks known as Goliards. The subjects of their poetry ranged from moral satire to lust, drinking, and gambling.
