The Discovery Concerts for Kids series offers a fun and enduring experience for kids and kids-at-heart.

These one-hour concerts are the perfect length for youngsters and are packed with exciting and colorful music. All concerts are preceded by fun lobby activities ranging from storytelling to face-painting to games. And remember to join Symphony Sam at our Instrument Petting Zoo, where kids can try their hand at playing an instrument!

There’s no better place to celebrate Halloween than with the Symphony. From tolling bells to ghostly woodwinds, screeching strings to belching brass, the symphony orchestra was made to give you thrills. 
The Winston-Salem Symphony and Winston-Salem Festival Ballet celebrate this Halloween with music sure to offer treats, and maybe a few tricks.

The Winston-Salem Symphony and Festival Ballet tell Prokofiev’s timeless tale about a brave boy, his grandpa, and their quirky animal companions. Each character is represented by a different instrument and melody, from the bird’s flourishing flute to the grandpa’s grumpy bassoon, creating a classic that listeners of all ages will remember for the rest of their lives.

Star Wars

The Symphony celebrates the premiere of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens with a concert of music from throughout the saga, written by one of America’s most celebrated living composers, John Williams. The music from Star Wars is some of the most beloved in the history of film music, including the “Main Theme,” the “Imperial March,” and the “Duel of the Fates.”

This free concert, now in its ninth season, has become a springtime favorite! Enjoy a colorful program of overtures, concertos performed by young star soloists, and gargantuan works for the combined forces of the Winston-Salem Symphony and their student counterparts in the WSS Youth Symphony. A wonderful family afternoon of music.
