Tenor Daniel C. Stein, whose voice has been described as “ringing” and “warm and flexible”, began the 2013-14 season performing excerpts from Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings (Britten) in a concert celebrating the centennial of the composers birth. He followed with performances of Messiah (Handel) and excerpts from La Bohème (Puccini) with the Winston-Salem Symphony. He concluded the season with a return to Opera Carolina where he will perform as the Song Vendor in Il Tabarro (Puccini) and as Der Steuermann in Der Fliegende Holländer (Wagner). Continued…

Daniel C. Stein, tenor

Recent seasons included Mr. Stein making his debut with Maestro Christopher Warren Green and the Charlotte Symphony as soloist for Mass in C-Minor (Mozart). Additionally, he performed as soloist for Messiah with the Greensboro Oratorio Society, a Faculty Recital at Winthrop University, Cantata No. 4: Christ Lag im Todesbanden (J.S. Bach) with the York County Choral Society and Requiem (Mozart) with The Masterworks Choir of Florence, SC.

Equally at home on the concert stage, Mr. Stein has performed such prestigious engagements as his debut at Carnegie Hall as soloist for Elijah (Mendelssohn) with Manhattan Concert Productions. He also performed such works as Magnificat (J.S. Bach), Liebeslieder Walzer (Brahms), The Creation (Haydn), The Lord Nelson Mass (Haydn), and Oratorio de Noël (Saint-Sæns).

A former Principal Young Artist with Opera North (NH) and Resident Artist at Opera Carolina, Daniel completed his Master of Music at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He currently serves on the Voice Faculty at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, where he resides with his wife and daughters.
