Joseph Mount

Horn

Joe Mount holds a BM in Music Education (Wright State University), an MA in Arts Administration (University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music) and an MM in French horn (North Carolina School of the Arts). After working as a management fellow for the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Milwaukee Symphony and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Joe accepted a position in 1986 as Director of Outreach at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC, a position he still holds. At UNCSA, Joe is the primary contact for several of the school's outreach and touring programs. An active professional musician, he is a horn player in the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Greensboro Symphony, the Carolina Chamber Symphony, and the Giannini Brass. In North Carolina, he has also performed as a substitute with the Charlotte Symphony and the North Carolina Symphony. He is a founder and co-artistic director of the Carolina Summer Music Festival. Joe's wife, Martha is a UNCSA music alumna, and is a Physician Assistant at Piedmont Hematology/Oncology in Winston-Salem. Joe and Martha have three children: Michael, 19, Katherine, 17 and Eric, 12.
