Winston-Salem Symphony Chorale and Winston-Salem Youth Chorus Seek Choral/Artistic Directors

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (MARCH 3, 2015) – The Winston-Salem Symphony Chorale and Winston-Salem Youth Chorus today jointly announce searches for artistic leaders as follows: the Winston-Salem Symphony Chorale seeks a part-time Symphony Chorale Director and the Winston-Salem Youth Chorus seeks a part-time Artistic Director. These searches are being announced jointly because there may be qualified candidates who wish to apply for both part-time positions, thus creating the equivalent of a full-time opportunity.

The Winston-Salem Symphony (WSS) is seeking an experienced and inspirational part-time Symphony Chorale Director who will be responsible for preparing the volunteer WSS Chorale for all concerts performed with the WSS and for periodic independent concerts. The Symphony Chorale Director works closely with the WSS Music Director, Assistant Conductor, Artistic Operations Director, Orchestra Personnel Manager & Librarian, and the Chorale Council, an advisory body that supports Chorale operations.  For access to a position description and application procedures, interested applicants should visit the WSS website at symp.ws/jobs.  The application deadline is March 12, 2015.

The Winston-Salem Youth Chorus (WSYC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced part-time Artistic Director who will have primary responsibility for developing and implementing the artistic vision for the chorus; for supervising, teaching, conducting, and inspiring WSYC’s choristers (ages 3rd – 12th grades); and for promoting the WSYC through performances, conventions, collaborations, chorister recruitment, parental engagement, and touring. The Artistic Director will work in collaboration with the Executive Director and Chorus Manager to oversee the administrative functions of the organization, with the Board of Directors to provide financial and strategic oversight, and with the Parent’s Association to communicate musical goals and expectations for the choir.  For access to a position description and application procedures, interested applicants should visit the WSYC website at wsyouthchorus.org.  The application deadline is March 12, 2015.

Applicants who are interested in being considered for both the WSS and WSYC positions should follow the Winston-Salem Symphony Chorale Director application deadline and procedure listed above with the following exception: reference “Joint Symphony Chorale Director/Youth Chorus Artistic Director-Conductor position” in the subject line of the application email.
