WSS Featured at 2013 Sealy/Fox 8 Holiday Concert

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (December 10, 2013) – The Winston-Salem Symphony will perform at the Sealy/Fox 8 Holiday Pops Concert, playing a variety of holiday favorites including a selection of songs from beloved holiday movies, Sleigh Ride, a carol sing-along and much more. The annual event benefitting regional Salvation Army Food Pantries features sacred and secular holiday music.

The concert will take place on Saturday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 2825 University Parkway in Winston-Salem. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with first-come, first-served seating.

Admission to the concert is free with a donation of canned food or non-perishable food items, which will be distributed to Salvation Army Food Pantries throughout the Piedmont. Though all non-perishable donations are welcome, the following provides a general idea of some of the types of items the Salvation Army needs: rice, beans, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, bottled fruit juice, diapers, infant formula and canned food of any kind.  Parking is also free thanks to the generosity of the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The orchestra will be led by associate conductor Matthew Troy. Gymnasts from Salem Gymnastics, dancers from Winston-Salem Festival Ballet, and soprano Jodi Burns also will perform. Sponsors of this special community event are Sealy, Fox 8 WGHP, with additional support from Old Dominion Freight Lines.
