Position Title: Premiere Strings/Chamber Sinfonia Conductor
Position FLSA Status: Part-time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Conductor of the Winston-Salem Symphony (WSS) Premiere Strings and Chamber Sinfonia (WSS-PS/CS) leads the WSS Youth Orchestras Program’s (YOP) two entry-level orchestral ensembles. This individual is responsible for fostering a positive and engaging musical environment that promotes artistic excellence, supports the musical and personal growth of student musicians, and demonstrates a strong commitment to music education and community engagement. As the artistic leader of these ensembles, they exercise authority in WSS-PS/CS artistic matters in accordance with the WSS mission, vision, and Strategic Plan, and consistent with approved budgets, and WSS policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Education Programs Manager, the WSS-PS/CS Conductor also works closely with the Vice President (V.P.)-Education & Engagement, the YOP Youth Symphony and Youth Philharmonic Conductor, the P.L.A.Y. Music Program Director, the WSS Music Director, the Senior Manager-Artistic Operations, the WSS Orchestra Personnel Manager & Librarian, and professional coaches from the WSS.

Compensation range: $6,800 annual salary paid over 12 months
Organization Description: The Winston-Salem Symphony (WSS) is in its 80th season as one of the Southeast’s most highly regarded regional per-service orchestras. Its performance season historically includes masterworks classical concerts, pop guest artists and themes, educational and family concerts, and more.
Organization Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
